Dairy Fresh

UI/UX design Web Design

Overview

CQ United Dairies Pty Ltd was formed in 2017 to create a local farmer-owned milk brand – Central Queensland Dairy Fresh and Whitsunday Dairy Fresh. Dairy Fresh reached out to Follow to help build a new online milk subscription & delivery website.

Working as the only digital designer within the Brisbane team at Follow. My role in this project was to create user journey & user flows, wireframes, design the interfaces for mobile and desktop, create interactive prototypes and prepare the design handoff.

ROLE

UI/UX Designer

The Challenge

The website’s primary purpose is to sell milk directly to consumers in a subscription program. Apart from subscription program, the site also available for one-off purchase. As a secondary focus, the website also needs to help facilitate B2B or wholesale management.

Central Queensland Dairy Fresh delivers to Rockhampton and surrounding areas, and Whitsunday Dairy Fresh delivers to Whitsundays and the surrounding areas.

The Solution

WooCommerce Subscriptions

In the project brief, we use WooCommerce subscriptions to deal with recurring payment program. I created a low-fidelity wireframe to show the subscription process, discussed with our strategist and developers to find out the best workflow.

Visual language

After our graphic designer finalised logo design, I start to create a visual language of the new site. I chose typefaces, developed a colour palette, designed icons, and created a bunch of graphic elements. All of the visual elements come together representing the brand.

Storytelling product pages

I designed a storytelling product page to give users a good feeling for what Dairy Fresh’s milk about, I used a bunch of graphic elements that enforce the brand message.

Postcode checker

The new site has the postcode eligibility checking software that informs the customer if delivery is available for their area. I created a user flow of how users interact with postcode check results. This user flow also helped the developers to understand the functional requirement.

Responsively designed

Big screen or small, the Dairy Fresh site looks good and works well on all devices.

Summary

This was an interesting project to work on. I especially enjoyed the design direction exploration phrase. What I have found to be the most challenging part is creating subscription process. The site launched in 2017
